4: Can I ride and park my bicycle in the park?

1: Are we allowed barbecues in the park?

Yes, but please dispose of them carefully in the brick barbecue bins that are located around the park. Also, please try and avoid burning the grass - if your barbecue is of the disposable tray type, put it on a stone before you light it - it's only fair to the turf!

2: Can I book the park for an event? If so, how do I do it?

If you want to hold a small event (a party or barbecue) for friends and family, you do not need to book at all. Please take your litter home or dispose of it in a bin when leaving. If you want to hold a public event, please contact the Park management - phone 0161 224 2902

3: Is there any car parking in the park?

Yes, on normal days there is a free car park accessed by Langley Rd (off Wilmslow Rd near Owens Park). Parking for disabled people is closer to the lakeside. The postcode for location purposes is M14 6LA .

For public events, there is often special secure parking arranged. You usually have to pay for this as attendants have to be paid to look after cars arriving and leaving. The usual car park is usually not accessible for the public on these days.

4: Is there any parking for bicycles in the park?

Bicycles are allowed in the park at all times when there is no event on. At busy events, bikes are excluded for safety reasons. As for parking, there are bike racks outside the Lakeside Centre and by the Skatepark. We are hoping to have bike racks installed at Platt Lane, and Mabfield Rd and Grangethorpe Rd in the next year.

5: Where can I walk my dog in the park?

Again dogs are allowed anywhere in the park at all times except the children's play areas and during some events. If dogs are not welcome at an event, an alternative dog-walking route will be clearly labelled. Obviously all dog mess should go in the bins provided.

Previously dogs were not allowed off the lead except in certain areas (as shown on signs at the time). This has changed and dogs are now allowed off the lead anywhere except the play areas as stated above.
