Awards following a match
The club was formed late 2007 with the following aims:
  • To promote responsible angling
  • To educate anyone new to the sport (age is no bar)
  • To encourage disadvantaged children to learn new skills
  • To educate members on wildlife issues around our lake
  • To promote a healthy respect amongst all park users
All anglers must have a current rod licence (if applicable) - This is very important as you can be fined up to £2500 for fishing without one. You can get your rod license online from the Environment Agency Website or at the post office.

As part of the Centenary Celebrations for Platt Fields this year and also by way of saying a big thank you to everyone who has supported us, we are pleased to announce that fishing will be free to all our previous members this year. For those who have never joined us before, there will be a nominal permit fee of £5 for Adults. Under 16's can join for free.

Currently we have Carp, Bream, Roach & Perch in the lake which is open all year round for fishing.

We have already installed 2 Eco Islands, which have predator cages underneath and this year we are planning on putting more into the lake.

The lake being netted
Blue green Algae has caused the lake to close for the last 2 Summers and so this year we will be undertaking a rolling programme of Barley straw treatments. Which together with the new Duck feeding rules, due to be implemented this Spring (NO BREAD, ONLY SEED/PELLETS TO BE FED OUT OF THE WATER), we are keeping our fingers crossed that the Algae won't return.

We are always open to new members and we are planning to once again run our successful Children's Matches.
