Platt Fields Angling Club
This year we have had more people fishing at the lake than we have had for many a year but sadly this has meant an increase in injured wildlife due to carelessly discarded fishing line and hooks.
So we have begun a campaign to try and get a club together so that we could educate our younger anglers how to become more responsible and respect the lakeside area, whilst learning new skills.
The Environment Agency are helping us and we are hopeful that by next year some of our more experienced anglers will have trained to become professional coaches. Eventually we are looking at providing "Taster Sessions" for local schools and other interested groups.
Word has got about that Platt Fields is the lake to visit, as when the fish are "biting" you are practically guaranteed to have a good day out. So much so, that this summer we have had anglers coming from as far away as Oldham on a regular basis.
If you fancy joining us contact Alis McCabe by emailing us from the Contact Us page for further information.
Age is no bar - we currently have anglers whose ages range from 10 years old to 70 years old!
